I have been very fortunate for the last string of six years. I have been selected each year with having one or two of my clients’ weddings featured in bridal magazines. 2009 was a great year in terms of my having the honor of photographing several beautiful and elegant weddings. Several of them, in my opinion, were worthy of magazine publication. My clients, Rosemarie and Sam D’Angelo, was certainly one of those weddings and the magazine, Metro Detroit Bride agreed. In fact, not only were their images published, but the wedding was the feature wedding and provided us with a two page spread. Click here to see their blog post link from last September, and here to see their wedding highlight slideshow. Congratulations Rose and Sam!!!  One Special Note: Carolyn Hefner, Wedding Planner Extraordinaire of the first class China Closet, was somehow left off the list of vendor credits.  Without Carolyn’s focused attention to details, creative vision, and meticulous planning, the day would have fallen short of the extraordinary event it became.

Terry and Chips wedding marks the beginning of my busy wedding season and I can already predict it will be one of my more memorable weddings this year! Not only was it a splendid affair with all of my favorite vendors working with me, nor was it just because the wedding ceremony and reception was held at one of metro Detroits most elegant venues. It was because of the triumphal story of this beautiful couple. They are triumphal in love and in life! I was taken back by Chips endearing love for Terry, and her love for him. Equally, however, I was moved by the wonderful spirit of this couple despite the difficult battle they have endured as Terrys suffers from stage four breast cancer. If I hadnt known in advance, I never would have sensed it from the love and joy this couple had on their faces the whole day through! This was a triumphal and beautiful wedding, indeed.

The all star vendors were a plenty, including the very elegant and palatial Henry Ford Museum, The China Closet for attention to detail and premier wedding planning, the incredible and preeminent Bellisario , and Michigan’s version of Hollywood-precision video with Fifth and Main Productions. Terry’s hairdresser was Birmingham’s Peter Mansoor of Vanity Hair and her makeup by Barbara Deyo of Devo Studio. DJ services was provided by Memory Maker DJ’s and Brian Van Guitar entertained with his classical guitar during dinner.

I met Rose and Sam about sixteen months before their wedding and have had the pleasure of getting to know them during this period of time. We were able to photograph their fantastic engagement party and a separate e-session in downtown Royal Oak. It was then that I met their lovable and precious dog Rocco. You can see him for yourself in some of the highlight photos below! It wouldn’t be right if Rocco didn’t get to give his beloved Rose a kiss before she walked the aisle!  The wedding ceremony took place at the Sweetest Heart of Mary Catholic Church in downtown Detroit. From the ceremony, we headed to Hart Plaza for some fun, romantic photos (check out the skate boarder shot – it’s a classic!). After spending some time downtown, we met the couple at Greenfield Village and followed them as they enjoyed a horse-drawn carriage ride. The grand finale for this wonderful couple took place at the beautifully decorated, Henry Ford Museum, where they celebrated their reception. This beautiful, and much anticipated wedding, was planned by the one and only, Carolyn Hefner of the China Closet. The day could not have been more perfect without Carolyn’s oversight! There was also an all-star cast of vendors to help make this day beyond spectacular:  Christina Dodge, the event coordinator of the Henry Ford Musuem, Ralph Bellisario of Bellisario Florist provided the floral arrangements and decor, Cartoleria, of Birmingham, provided the custom invitations and printing services, Michelle Bommarito designed the cake, the Simone Vitale Band provided the entertainment, Ryan Koral of Epic Motion had a staff of five filmmakers providing video coverage, and I had a staff of nine, including my Orange County, California partner, Michael Erdkamp of Memories By Michael Photography, who flew out to work as my second.  Enjoy just a few of the many highlights below.  Keep checking in on my blog for the fantastic wedding day highlight slide show.  It will be here in a few weeks.
